Plymouth , also know as Ole Pokerville, has several historic buildings, including the Chinese store, the Plymouth Hotel, and the Empire store. Much of the town was destroyed during the fire of 1877, said to be started by children playing with matches.

As you travel south there are several other historic towns within the county, including Amador City, Sutter Creek, and Jackson.

Plymouth is the "gateway to the beautiful Shenandoah Valley". This valley is home to several wineries and the Amador Flower Farm.
